Chinese for Youth Level 1 app for iPhone and iPad

This App is designed as a supplementary material of Far East Chinese for Youth (Revised Edition). The well-designed games and animations help to arouse learners’ enthusiasm for Chinese learning. Learners are also able to be familiar with Chinese language and Chinese sentence structures by daily life contexts; we provide different topics in conversations that are practical and useful materials in learning daily Chinese. Reading comprehension tests are also provided for learners to examine how well they understand a dialogue or a paragraph in Chinese. The whole design of this App aims to improve learners’ overall Chinese proficiency. Both traditional and simplified Chinese are included in this App to meet the different needs of learners.

Four units of exercise are provided:
Words & Conversations, Shooting Game, Fill in the Blanks, and Reading Comprehension.

• Words: Words alongside colorful illustrations and clear pronunciation help the memorization of new words.
• Conversations: Basic words and sentences are presented in conversations that familiarize learners with Chinese sentence structures and help them acquire basic communication skills.
• Shooting Game: Increase vocabulary by listening to and recognizing words.
• Fill in the Blanks: Strengthen understanding of word meaning and sentence structure.
• Reading Comprehension: Understand paragraphs with the help of reading comprehension tests.
